Ship a car, truck or machinery from the USA to Angola

Luanda and Lobito. Cars, trucks, used construction machinery and general cargo into one of southern Africa's larger economies. Licensed FMC NVOCC, nationwide US collection, real price in 24 to 48 hours.

Luanda is the largest port in Angola and the gateway to one of the bigger economies in southern Africa. We ship cars, trucks, used construction machinery and general cargo there from anywhere in the USA. Nationwide collection, loading at our own warehouse, US export filing handled, and a real price back in 24 to 48 hours.

We hold live carrier rates to Luanda. It is on our current sailing schedule, so we can usually price a booking quickly rather than going away to ask. Tell us the cargo and the US pickup point and you will have a number.

Where your cargo lands

Main port

Luanda

Angola's principal port, serving the capital and the bulk of the country's containerised trade.

Also

Lobito

A deep-water port to the south, and the coastal end of the corridor running inland toward the copper belt.

Sector

Oil, construction, mining

Angolan demand for imported machinery and industrial equipment is driven by these three.

What we ship

Cars, trucks, machinery, cargo

Vehicles, commercial trucks, construction plant and general containerised freight.

What we move to Angola

Cars and pickups, several to a 40ft container so the freight splits. Trucks and commercial vehicles, which move well given the construction activity. Used construction machinery from Ritchie Bros., IronPlanet and Purple Wave, containerised, on flat-rack or by heavy haulage. And general containerised cargo, including building materials and industrial goods. See the equipment export guide.

Why book this lane with us

We are the carrier. Cassandra Logistics is federally licensed by the Federal Maritime Commission under OTI No. 025125NF, and the bill of lading is issued in our own name rather than by a broker reselling space.

We collect from anywhere in the USA, including non-runners, and load at our own warehouse in New Jersey, Savannah, Houston or Baltimore, where cargo is braced and photographed before the doors close.

We file the US export declaration so the American side is clean before the vessel sails and your despachante has a consistent document set.

How it works

Shipping to Angola
What is the best way to ship a car from the USA to Luanda?

In a container, booked with the licensed carrier rather than a broker, with several vehicles sharing the box where you have more than one. Cassandra Logistics is FMC-licensed under OTI No. 025125NF and issues the bill of lading in its own name. Get a price in 24 to 48 hours.

Who ships cargo from the USA to Angola?

We do, as a licensed US NVOCC. We collect from any state, load and secure at our own warehouse in New Jersey, Savannah, Houston or Baltimore, file the US export declaration and ship to Luanda. We hold live carrier rates on this lane.

Can you collect cargo from anywhere in the USA?

Yes. Nationwide collection from any state, whether the cargo is at an auction site, a dealer, a factory or a private seller. Non-runners get winched rather than driven. Distance affects the cost, not whether we can do it. Tell us the pickup address and the condition when you ask for a price, so the right truck and equipment are sent the first time rather than on a second visit.

Can I ship construction machinery to Angola?

Yes, and it is one of the strongest cargoes on this lane given the construction, mining and oil activity. Excavators, loaders, dozers and plant ship containerised, on flat-rack or by heavy haulage depending on dimensions, with dismantling where required. See the equipment guide.

Can I ship trucks and commercial vehicles?

Yes. Tractor units, tippers, box trucks and commercial vehicles move well here given the level of construction activity. They ship by container where they fit and by flat-rack where they do not. Send us the make, model and dimensions. Import eligibility for commercial vehicles is often assessed differently from passenger cars at destination, so confirm it with your agent before you buy.

Do you carry general commercial cargo?

Yes. Full container freight from any US origin, including building materials, industrial goods, spare parts and trade goods. Tell us the commodity, weight and volume and we will price it the same way we would a vehicle shipment. We handle the US export filing on commercial cargo exactly as we do on vehicles, so the paperwork side is one process rather than two.

Can I arrange the whole shipment from Angola?

Yes. You never need to be in the United States. We deal with the seller, collect the cargo, load it at our own warehouse, file the export declaration and ship it. Your despachante handles clearance at Luanda. Everything is handled over email and WhatsApp, and we send photographs at each stage so you can see the cargo without being there.

Can I ship project or oversized cargo?

Yes, by flat-rack, breakbulk or heavy haulage depending on the piece. Lead times are longer because suitable sailings are less frequent and loading takes more coordination, so plan further ahead than you would for a standard container booking. Send the dimensions and weight early and we will confirm the discharge point can take the piece before anything is booked.

Cost and what is included
How much does it cost to ship a container from the USA to Luanda?

It depends on where the cargo starts in the States, the container size and the commodity. We hold live carrier rates for Luanda so we can usually come back quickly. Because we are the NVOCC rather than a reseller, the number is the carrier rate. Request a quote

What is the cheapest way to move several vehicles?

Fill the container. Ocean freight is charged on the box rather than per vehicle, so three or four cars in one 40ft costs far less each than one shipped alone. Timing several purchases onto a single booking is the biggest saving available.

What does your price include?

Collection from the US seller, transport to our warehouse, loading and securing, the US export filing, and the ocean freight to Luanda. Angolan duties, taxes, port charges, your despachante's fee and inland delivery sit outside it and are paid at that end.

Why are other quotes to Angola cheaper?

Usually because they are broker prices that get revised once the booking is real, or they exclude collection, loading or the export declaration. Ask what is excluded and who issues the bill of lading. If they cannot issue one in their own name, they are reselling space.

How much does US collection add?

It scales with the distance from the origin to whichever of our four warehouses suits the routing, and machinery costs more to move than a car because the equipment differs. We build the figure into the quote so you compare one complete number.

Can you hold my cargo while I buy more?

Yes. We can hold vehicles or machines at our warehouse while you buy others, then load them together in one container. Auction yards charge daily storage while our warehouse does not work that way, so waiting usually saves money. Tell us your buying pattern when you first make contact and we will plan the holding window around your auction schedule.

What will I pay when the cargo reaches Angola?

Customs duties, taxes, port handling, your despachante's fee and inland transport. These are assessed and charged in Angola. Establish the landed figure with your agent before you buy rather than after the container has sailed. Ask your agent for the full landed figure before you buy, because the destination side is often larger than the freight and it is better known in advance.

Ports and routing
Which Angolan port should I ship to?

Luanda for most cargo, since it handles the bulk of the country's containerised trade and serves the capital. Lobito is a deep-water alternative to the south and sits at the coastal end of the corridor running inland. Tell us the final destination and we will route it.

Which US ports do you load from?

Our warehouses in New Jersey, Savannah, Houston and Baltimore all serve this lane, with East Coast departures most common. Routings to Angola commonly involve transshipment, so the sailing schedule matters as much as the loading point. We pick the loading point around where your cargo actually sits rather than defaulting to whichever warehouse is most convenient for us.

How long does shipping to Angola take?

It depends on the US loading port, the carrier's schedule and the transshipment involved, which is usual on this route. Flat-rack and breakbulk cargo takes longer because suitable sailings are less frequent. We give a concrete timeline with the quote. We tell you the realistic schedule rather than the best case, because a date you can plan around is worth more than an optimistic one.

Do you deliver inland in Angola?

Our service ends at the port of discharge. Inland delivery is arranged by your despachante, who is also handling clearance. Tell us the final destination anyway, since it can affect which port makes more sense for the cargo. We can also recommend agents we have worked with before if you do not already have one in place at that end.

Can the port handle a very large machine?

Heavy-lift capability varies by terminal and should be settled before booking rather than on arrival. For flat-rack and breakbulk cargo the crane capacity and yard equipment at the discharge point matter. We check it as part of routing your shipment. Send the dimensions and weight early and we will confirm the discharge point can take the piece before anything is booked.

How we handle your cargo
How many cars fit in a 40ft container?

Usually three or four depending on the vehicles. Sedans and compact SUVs load efficiently, full-size pickups take more room and often drop the count. We confirm the loading plan once we know the exact units, and each extra vehicle lowers the cost per car.

How is a vehicle secured in the container?

Loaded on its own wheels, chocked, strapped at the wheels or suspension rather than over the bodywork, and blocked so it cannot shift at sea. Where the straps attach is what separates a careful load from a damaged car. We photograph the finished load as well, so there is a record of exactly how the vehicle was braced if a question ever comes up.

Will I see photos before the container is sealed?

Yes. We photograph the cargo when it reaches our warehouse and again once loaded and secured, before the doors close. On machinery that record also documents what was removed, which helps at reassembly. We send them to you rather than filing them away, so you know what left the warehouse and in what condition before the vessel sails.

Will my machine need dismantling?

Often. Booms, arms, buckets, cabs and counterweights come off and travel in the same container, documented so the machine can be rebuilt at destination. Dismantling usually costs far less than the freight difference between a container and a flat-rack booking. Everything removed is photographed and labelled, so whoever reassembles it at the far end is not guessing.

Does equipment need cleaning before it arrives?

Agricultural and earth-moving equipment is commonly subject to cleanliness requirements because of pest and disease controls. Steam cleaning before loading costs very little against the risk of a machine being held at the port for cleaning at your expense. We can arrange it as part of the preparation at our warehouse so the machine leaves the USA already compliant.

Can I ship spare parts with the machine?

Yes, and it is usually the efficient thing to do since parts travel far more cheaply alongside the machine than shipped separately later. Everything must be listed on the export filing, so send us the full inventory rather than adding items on loading day.

Booking and working with us
How quickly can I get a price?

Within 24 to 48 hours in normal cases, often faster because we hold live carrier rates for Luanda. Send the cargo details including the machine model or VIN, the dimensions and weight, the US location and the Angolan destination. If anything about the cargo makes the lane unworkable we will say so in that same reply rather than quoting you and letting it surface later.

What happens after I accept your quote?

We arrange collection, bring the cargo to our warehouse, photograph it, book the container, load and secure it, file the US export declaration and send you the bill of lading. Your despachante takes it from the port of discharge. You get the booking reference as soon as the space is confirmed, so you can track the sailing rather than waiting to hear from us.

Do you handle customs clearance in Angola?

No. Clearance is handled by a licensed despachante in Angola. We are the ocean carrier, we deliver to the port of discharge, and we provide the documentation your agent needs. Be cautious with any company claiming to clear customs everywhere. What we will do is make sure the documents reaching your agent are clean and consistent, because that is what decides how fast they can work.

Are you a licensed shipping line or a middleman?

We are the NVOCC. Cassandra Logistics is a federally licensed Ocean Transportation Intermediary under FMC licence OTI No. 025125NF, legally Royal Port Container Lines, Inc. The number is public and verifiable with the Federal Maritime Commission before you send anyone money. Ask any company quoting you for their FMC number, and if they cannot give you one they are not the carrier.

Import rules change. The customs information on this page comes from official government sources and was accurate when published, but duties, age limits and eligibility requirements are set by the destination country and can change without notice. Cassandra Logistics is a licensed ocean carrier, not a customs authority or a legal adviser. We are not responsible for changes to foreign import law, or for decisions made by customs at destination. Always confirm current requirements with a licensed customs agent in the destination country before you buy a vehicle.
